Blogs Vs. Forums

Graphic Visions can create, customize, setup, and help you run either a blog or forum through your web site or independently. But before we do this for you, it might be helpful to know which one you would like! Read on below to see what makes a blog different from a forum, and feel free to contact us with further questions. Thanks!

Blogs

Blogs seem to be the next big internet hype out there, yet there is still some confusion as to what exactly blogs are. Blog is short for web log, which is essentially an on-line journal or newsletter that is frequently updated and intended for the general public. A Blog can have either one author, coined blogger, or several. The great thing about blogs is that they are usually updated using software which allows the blogger to have little technical background, and also allows the blogger to express their views on any number of topics. Some blogs allow users to log in and add comments to the bloggers original posts. However you decide to use them, blogs are great because they help generate much needed traffic to web sites. And the dynamic content is great for high search engine rankings, as the spiders love constant changing copy. Below are a few examples of Blogs.

Forums

Forums are different from blogs because they are authored by numerous individuals, and are more like open discussions then individual diary entries. Forums provide a place for those with similar interests to share their thoughts, questions, etc. Users generally log in to read and post to current subjects being discussed. Forums also come with special features such as personal profiles, calendars, and email notification systems. It's a good idea to have at least one person moderate a forum to make sure there is nothing offensive being posted, and to keep the discussions going. Some examples of forums are listed below.
